Levels of ITIL certification
ITIL certification has three levels.
The Foundation Certificate enables IT professionals to understand the terminology used within the ITIL. It lays fundamental knowledge on ITIL service support, service delivery and ITIL philosophy.
The Practitioner's Certificate qualifies an IT professional on specific disciplines within the ITIL service support and service delivery sets, including customer and IT organisational communication.
The Manager's Certificate is for experienced IT professionals in the capacity of IT managers. They will be involved in implementation and management of IT services and functions.
ITIL has also gone through several version upgrades since it was first introduced in 1996. Version 2 or V2 outlines what should be done by IT to improve on a company's existing organisational processes. Version 3 or V3 outlines how to improve these processes. V3 also demonstrates the return on investment to the business for every service delivery unit.
ITIL certification usually involves three-days of in-class study, whereupon the certification exam is held on the third day. Companies who are implementing ITIL send their employees to get the ITIL certification. Exam pass rates are remarkably higher for those who enrol in in-class lectures. |
